Getting your own domain name
North Lincolnshire Council can no longer manage domain name registrations on your behalf. In order to get your own unique domain name you must register it yourself. This will also allow you to keep better management of the renewal options.
Step 1
Find an available domain name by visiting www.ukreg.co.uk and typing in keywords or your name of choice where it says "register domain name".
Step 2
Choose from the list of available domains. Put a check next to the domain you want, note the cost is listed alongside. "pa" means per annum. Some domains can only be purchased in 2 year blocks. Clck 'register selected domains'.
Step 3
Create an account with the domain registrar. You will need your contact details and to choose a password. Click 'continue'.
Step 4
Complete the purchase and make note of your login details. You will recieve and email.
Step 5
Login to your control panel. Click"domain names" from the top ribbon of options. Your domain name will appear below. Click the "DNS" button on the right hand side of this. A new screen appears.
Step 6
Next to "CNAME reords" click the "Add CNAME record" button. In the form, type "www" where is says "hostname" and "www.e-voice.org.uk" where it says "points to". Click save.
